Bell & Bird

Landscape Architect: Shademaker Studio

Landscape Construction: SLC

In the heart of West Austin sits Bell & Bird, a high-end retailer that curates, collects, and creates heirloom jewelry. To make their high-traffic commercial plot feel in line with their brand identity, Shademaker Studio cleverly created a concept to play with scale, add a sense of refinement, and feel inviting yet sophisticated. We worked closely with Shademaker to bring this garden to life.

The exterior is organized by a series of sculptural topiaries of Nellie Stevens Holly, framed with hedges of gray Gerremander, to add a sense of order to the space and playing with scale around the postage stamp lawn. A Mexican adobe brick landing adds texture and a soft, graphic element.

The soft gray-green palette from the holly, gerremander, palms, and groundcover of Stemodia is accented with jewel-toned colors to feel like an extension of the brand. The native Texas Redbud is framed with an ornamental grass called Ruby Crystal and drifts of antique roses bloom year-round along the street yard.
